Scholarship Program

Financial support is provided to deserving high school students who have applied for and met the set criteria of academic performance, community service and recommendations by community leaders. Each year Zeta Sigma Lambda partners with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. - Epsilon Xi Omega Chapter in hosting a Scholarship Reception to present scholarships to deserving students throughout the county. The reception includes cash prizes for spoken word and essay performances and book awards for college-bound Black males.

In partnership with the San Diego Alpha Foundation, the Zeta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc hosts an annual holiday ball to support its educational programs and college scholarships for San Diego students.

ABOUT THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS:

  • Continued Academic Excellence Program (CAEP): Launched in 1957, CAEP is an educational program for African American high school males. The program offers mentoring services, self-esteem training, and scholarships to graduating high school juniors and seniors at Morse High School and Lincoln High School. Book awards are awarded to each student during their first semester of college.

  • Alpha Male Program: Alpha Male's mission is to eliminate the school to-prison pipeline. Conducted at Fulton K8 Elementary School and Morse High School, this mentorship program is a strategic partnership with Pazzaz Incorporated with the challenge of mentoring African American boys that are considered "at-risk" of academic failure.

ABOUT THE SAN DIEGO ALPHA FOUNDATION

The San Diego Alpha Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization which encourages academic excellence and provides educational and cultural enrichment activities.
