San Diego Alpha Foundation ("the Foundation," "we," "us"), affiliated with the Zeta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through sandiegoalphas.com, our event and fundraising pages, and our text messaging program, and how we use it.

Information we collect

  • Information you give us: name, email address, mobile phone number, mailing address, and details you enter when you register for an event, donate, bid in an auction, volunteer, apply for a scholarship, or contact us.
  • Payment information: donations and purchases are processed by our payment and fundraising providers, such as OneCause. We do not store full card numbers on our systems.
  • Website usage information: our website host may collect basic data such as browser type, pages visited, and IP address through cookies and similar tools.

How we use your information

  • To process donations, registrations, auction bids, and purchases, and to send receipts
  • To send event details, reminders, updates, and fundraising news you asked to receive
  • To send text messages if you opted in (see "Text messages and mobile information" below)
  • To administer scholarships, mentoring, and community programs
  • To answer questions and improve our website and events

Text messages and mobile information

If you provide your mobile number and opt in, we may send you text messages related to our events, fundraising, and programs. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We share mobile numbers only with the service providers that deliver our messages, and only for that purpose.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:

  • With service providers that help us run our website, events, payments, email, and text messaging, who may use it only to provide those services
  • When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of the Foundation, our members, or the public

Your choices

  • Email: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
  • Text messages: reply STOP to any message.
  • Access or deletion: email zsl1906sd@gmail.com to ask what information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted.

Data security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

Our website and text messaging program are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Parents or guardians who believe a child has given us information may contact us to have it removed.

We may update this policy. The effective date above shows when it last changed.
