Oct 5Ballots begin mailing and early voting begins. Drop boxes open Oct 6.
Oct 19Regular voter-registration deadline.
Oct 20 – Nov 3Same-day (conditional) registration available.
Oct 24First Vote Centers open in Voter’s Choice Act counties.
Oct 31In-person early voting open throughout California.
Nov 3Election Day. Polls open 7 a.m.–8 p.m.

After Election Day: mailed ballots postmarked by Nov 3 must arrive by Nov 10. Ballot-envelope signature issues can be corrected until Nov 25, 5 p.m.

What’s on the ballot?

San Diego County ballots can include federal, state, county, city, school, community college and special-district contests, plus local measures. Not every voter sees the same races. Confirm your official ballot first, then use these pages to research.

How to vote

Check your registration

Confirm you’re registered and your address is current. Regular deadline is Oct 19; same-day registration is available after that through Election Day.

Vote by mail

Every active registered California voter is mailed a ballot starting Oct 5. Return it by mail (postmarked by Nov 3), at an official drop box, a voting location, or the county elections office.

Vote early, in person

Early voting begins Oct 5. First Vote Centers open Oct 24, and early voting locations are open statewide by Oct 31.

Election Day

Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Polls open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Ballots returned in person must be received by 8:00 p.m.
